The MeridianTeaParty.com ** you don't have permission to see this link ** still apply with a couple of additions specific to The Reading Room.
1) If you are posting an article about a novel, be sure to provide a warning to your readers, if you are going to be posting spoilers, or information that will potentially spoil any surprises for readers should they choose to read the book you are recommending. A standard way of doing this is to start a new paragraph and type \"*** SPOILER ALERT ***\" then start a new paragraph which contains the spoiler information.
2) Do not quote more than about 150 words of the writer. Books are copyrighted material and copyrights must be respected. This may be expanded if the book is over 25 years old and you want to include many quotes. Be sure to provide proper attributions where necessary.
3) If possible, locate the book on Amazon.com or other bookseller websites and provide a link should the reader wish to purchase the book. This is less of a rule and more of a suggestion as it will encourage further exploration by readers. (ie: The world won't end if you don't include the link, but it is a nice touch!)
4) Books that promote racism, sexism or any other obviously offensive material should not be included here. Understand that if someone flags your post as offensive, the material will be reviewed and may be subject to deletion. Continued abuse of this policy will result in termination of posting priviledges.
