Preamble To The U.S. Constitution

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Thomas Jefferson, March 4, 1801

[A] wise and frugal government... shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.

Burt Prelutsky wrote a pretty good summary of how I think we all feel right now and he reminded me of the Howard Beale speech from the movie 'Network' in 1976. Peter Finch posthumously won an Academy Award for playing the Beale character. While the movie was a dark comedy of sorts, many critics and viewers have thought that the Howard Beale character was one of the most prophetic characters ever portrayed on the big screen. I debated on whether to publish this due to some offensive language, but in the end I decided giving you a chance to see the rest of the speech was worth the risk.

You have been warned, so don't complain if you choose to view this.

John Adams, 1765

Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.
