Journalism: The Most Trusted Scam In America
Posted by: | CommentsJoe Scarborough: Is The Tea Party Over?
Posted by: | CommentsJoe Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and former Republican Congressman from Florida recently penned an article for Newsweek magazine entitled “Is The Tea Party Over“. In the story, Scarborough posits his view that “The anti-Obama anger that helped fuel the ‘Massachusetts miracle’ is now threatening to tear the movement apart.” My advice to anyone who has liked or listened to Joe Scarborough in the past, turn his crappy brand of journalism off and go do something more productive with your time like join a Tea Party Group or go to one of their meetings. I happen to know a good Tea Party Group I can recommend. In the meantime, here’s my open letter to Joe Scarborough and Newsweek. Read More→

An Inconvenient Truth About Death Panels
Posted by: | CommentsOn August 7th, 2009, Sarah Palin posted a “Statement on the Current Health Care Debate” which included the following comment:
“The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”
John David Lewis is a professor of classics at Duke University and he has put together a very good analysis of exactly what HR 3200 actually says and contains. This was originally published at the ClassicalIdeals.com website. The original post of this article is located here. I’m taking a risk republishing this because these words belong to John David Lewis, however, I am hoping that since he has spoken at several Tea Party events, he may be willing to look the other way since this information is so important.
Editor’s Note: Mr. Lewis, should you notify me that I have overstepped my bounds, I will be happy to reduce the size of this to fair use word counts and provide links to your site for further reading by our readers. Read More→
A Real Teachable Moment
Posted by: | CommentsUnfortunately, there is no way to embed the video at the link below, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is a real “teachable moment.” Regardless of how you feel about Sarah Palin, you need to see this video. Watch it multiple times if necessary to let it sink in and understand the fight we are in.
Please forward this page and link to everyone you know. Bill Whittle of Pajamas TV is a great pundit and everything I’ve seen from him is right on target. This video is no exception.

The Chart Dems Want To Bury!
Posted by: | CommentsFrom RollCall.com on July 23, 2009:
Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate.
House Republicans are crying foul and claiming that the Democrats are using their majority to prevent GOP Members from communicating with their constituents.
The dispute centers on a chart (view PDF) created by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Republican staff of the Joint Economic Committee to illustrate the organization of the Democratic health care plan.
So since Republicans can’t mail the chart, we thought we’d make it available here and as a pdf file via the link above.
Another major conflict solved!
Opportunities to Educate Children
Posted by: | CommentsTalk to anyone and eventually they’ll get around to talking about their kids, or nieces and nephews, or the neighborhood kids. And sooner or later the concept of public education will creep its way into the discussion. I know to some people out there I’ll sound like an old geezer when I say this, but I’m really not that old: “I remember when it was important to learn about your government and how it works.”
When I was in the 7th grade, I had to take a Mississippi Civics class where we were “forced” to learn the names of all 82 counties in Mississippi. We studied the Mississippi Constitution and the founding of this great State. Then in the 11th grade, I had a class in American History and we held bake sales and car washes to raise enough money to take a trip to Williamsburg, Gettysburg, and Washington D.C. It was important to learn how government works and how bills become law. It was so important that Saturday morning television even got into the act.
In between cartoons and commercials, the powers that be at the time (probably conservatives!) decided that they had some time to spare to take the opportunity to turn Saturday morning into a classroom of fun. Schoolhouse Rock made it’s debut in 1973 on ABC and kids all over the United States began to learn math, english, science and though it is unbelievable today, civics as well.
These cartoons/music videos have stood the test of time. In fact, you can purchase a copy of their 30th Anniversary DVD here or you can see the unofficial history of SchoolHouse Rock here. At any rate, this website is dedicated to the premise of offering educational opportunities to visitors and members. It would be a travesty if we ignored the children in this effort since they are our future.
To that end, I’ve located several Schoolhouse Rock Videos and I’m going to add them here. Gather your children around you and watch them together. And order the dvd to help make sure that your kids can get the benefit of this wonderful educational opportunity. MeridianTeaParty.com doesn’t make a dime from any purchase nor are we associated in anyway with the producers. However, I can still recite The Preamble to The Constitution because I learned this song on television when I was less than 10 years old.
Do not under estimate the long-term benefits to finding ways to make learning fun.

HR 676 – America’s Affordable Health Choices Act Of 2009 (Full Text)
Posted by: | CommentsOk, we got our hands on a copy of the full 1,018 page Health Care Reform Bill and wanted to post it for any of you who want’s to take a look at what our Elected Officials failed to read prior to voting for it. As the text of this bill has been made available problems are already starting to appear.
In fact in a recent opinion piece on the Inventors Business Daily (IBD) Editorial page, the problems started on page 16 of the Bill and will likely continue through-out this document. And, it doesn’ t seem to be a small problem either. In fact, it will only outlaw the selling of any private insurance that has an effective date AFTER the the “first day of the year the legislation becomes law.” Here’s the full quote:
“Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.”
More to come on this I am sure and probably many more problems as more people do the homework the legislators should have done. We’ll try to keep you posted.
