Great News For Voter ID Ballot Initiative!

Marlissa Fillingane Northrop sent a message to the members of Mississippians for Voter Identification on FaceBook on February 8, 2010. We are happy to pass it along to everyone. Good work! It looks like we’ll be able to get Voter ID on the ballot in 2011. Check it out (emphasis added by TheGuru):

Subject: GOOD NEWS from MS GOP
From Jeppie Barbour, Mississippi GOP Office
February 8, 2010

At the moment all five districts have exceeded their targets. Districts 1 and 2 and 3 all have comfortable margins (over 22,000). District 4 has just over 20,000 and District 5 has over 21,000. There are several hundred more in the Clerks’ offices in all 5 districts and the certified totals for all will rise. We can reasonably expect that every district will exceed 22,000. A lot of you have done a lot of work and some of you have done very, very much work. It took the teamwork of all of you and your volunteers and our friends from the Tea Party and the other Patriot groups to get this done.

I must ask you to round up every signature that is on a kitchen table or on the counter of a business. We owe it to the volunteers to get them turned in, even if there is not time to certify them. Please send in (by mail or by hand) everything which you can find. Also, please check with the Circuit Clerk and try to get all the petitions that are in the Clerk’s office sent on to us. Please check whatever the Clerk hands you and be sure that they are ours and not from the Personhood* group. We want to get all petitions, certified and uncertified, in to Jackson headquarters this week.

Right now we plan to deliver our petitions to the Secretary of State at 2 pm on Thursday the 11th. You’re welcome to come and to invite anyone who has helped. Let me say that we probably won’t need your help in getting the petitions turned in but we will welcome your company. To our College Republican leaders – you’re included in this invitation. So are your helpers.

To all of you, all over the state, and from all groups – thanks for your work.
