Not sure how I missed this one, but a friend from another list posted this today, please read and take action–

Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (Dem – CA) has introduced a new bill that will, if passed into law, could put a great majority of us, in jail for up to 2 years. It has also been endorsed by several other Democrats. And at least one Republican that I know of so far, Mark Kirk.

Co sponsors of this bill include Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D, OH), Rep. John Yarmuth (D, KY) Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D, CA) Rep. Lois Capps (D, CA) Rep. Timothy Bishop (D, NY) Rep. Bruce Braley (D, IA) Rep. Raul Grijalva (D, AZ) Rep. Phil Hare (D, IL) Rep. Brian Higgins (D, NY) Rep. William Clay (D, MO) Rep. John Sarbanes (D, MD) Rep. Joe Courtney (D, CT) Rep. Mark Kirk (R, IL)

House Bill 1966 would amend the federal criminal code to impose FEDERAL criminal penalties on anyone who transmits in interstate or foreign commerce a communication intended to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to another person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior.

HR 1966, SEC 3, Sec. 881a

Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

1. The term ‘communication’ means the electronic transmission, between or among points specified by the user, of information of the user’s choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received; and

2. The term ‘electronic means’ means any equipment dependent on electrical power to access an information service, including email, instant messaging, blogs, websites, telephones, and text messages.’

And yeah, since it uses electric power, it would also include TV and Radio. Not to mention, CB radio, Short Wave Radio, and even those cheap $5 radio shack type walkie-talkies.

This covers just about ANY kind of political activism on the Internet, including blogs and yes even this forum as well.

If you argue with your girlfriend, or with some of you guys, your boyfriend, on a cell phone, text message, email, whatever, and it distresses that other person, YOU can go to a federal prison for up to 2 years.

So now if this passes and becomes law, how long will it take before we see the federal government employ the THOUGHT POLICE to determine if you meant distress to Obama when you questioned his policies even once, much less over and over again.

Free Speech will be over if this becomes law. Stick a knife in it, they will have finished shredding the Constitution.

This bill would criminalize any kinda of harsh speech made by anyone.

As this clearly states, ANYBODY ‘intending’ to ‘coerce’ or ’cause substantial emotional distress’ to a person using a blog, or pretty much anything else, to 'support severe, repeated and hostile behavior’ could get two years in a federal prision.

Look out people if your speech offends me, or Bush, or Cheney, Obama, or anyone else, you could go to a federal prison for 2 years, and or a fine. Just for speaking your mind.

Of course, some of ya'll could be 'cell bunkies', I'm sure ya'll would enjoy that.

Oops, My Bad, I better watch my words, I might go to prison in the cell next to ya'll for those kinda comments.

Think about it.

When some stupid politician does something ridiculous or corrupt, doesn't matter of it's Obama, Bush, Biden, Clinton, or Joe Mama, and if one of us decides to talk chit about them and what they have done, and especially as in my case where I fully intend to chastise them and cause them substantial emotional distress,
and I’m hostile when I do it – occasionally very hostile, I can go to jail.

Kinda think I need to reserve my jail cell now. Cause if my Mother couldn't get me to shut up, what make these idiot Democrats (and one Republican) who are sponsoring this stupidity think THEY can shut me up.

So I also have to wonder, exactly what part of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America these idiots who wrote and have sponsored this House Bill 1966, do not understand?

1st Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So before anyone goes calling someone a moron, idiot, retarded, koolaid drinker, wingnut, and any of the other bullcrap all the numnutz call each other, consider the possible consequences of this new bill, or at least put your lawyers number on speed dial.

Luckily, my lawyer has always been on speed dial. Not to mention every contact I have in the Media.

Better speak up now and tell your Congressmen to stop this assault on the 1st Amendment, while ya still can.

Speak now, or forever hold your piece as they say.
