Section 1 of the 22nd Ammendment states:
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Don't look now, but there is a “grassroots” movement to repeal the 22nd Amendment of The Constitution to allow popular presidents to serve more than one term. The website is ** you don't have permission to see this link **. Notice that the title of the page is “Obama's Third Term.”
The bill (H.J. Resolution 5) was introduced by Rep. Jose Serrano and you can read the complete text ** you don't have permission to see this link **. The bill was referred to the House Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties on Feb. 9, 2009. No further action has been taken so far and it appears that the bill has no cosponsors.
Doing a little bit of research on the Internet I found that the person registering this domain listed 277 North Avenue Lower Level, New Rochelle, NY as the address. Further checking determined that this address is commonly known as the Bank of America Building, but contains everything from attorneys to clothing stores and the bank.
I found it interesting that the site contains the poll question “Will Barack Obama lead us back to prosperity?” to which 80% of respondents said “Yes.” (Might be fun to at least go to the site and answer their poll question! ** you don't have permission to see this link **) [UPDATE: I tried to go back to the site and answer the poll question, but there's no way to actually answer the poll. Hmmm....]
Keep your eye on this one.
America does not elect Kings for Kings become tyrants.
