By receiving an email invitation to the R.E.A.L. Action For A Public Option Rally hosted by MoveOn.org, members of the Asheville Tea Party discovered that a prominent speaker at the event was actually a reporter for the Asheville Citizen-Times, a Gannett newspaper. After researching the Gannett Ethics Policy it was discovered that the reporter’s appearance at the rally was a clear violation of Gannett’s Conflicts of Interest policy.
After pointing out this obvious conflict of interest to the president and publisher of the Asheville Citizen-Times, the reporter mysteriously was unable to attend the MoveOn.org rally due to something coming up at the last minute.
